Shared Hosting: This is usually the cheapest form of website hosting because it’s the most economical when it comes to the use of hardware. Shared hosting means that multiple different websites are all hosted on the same server, with each user being allocated a certain amount of storage space and a certain amount of resources. This is often the best option for hobbyists and bloggers.

With their cheapest plan, 1GB worth of memory (RAM) is provided. Servers are based on solid-state drives for faster loading speeds compared to traditional mechanical drives. Servers are also PHP 7 Ready. PHP 7 is the choice of web developers at present giving superior and faster performance of websites and applications compared to PHP 5.6. CloudwaysCDN also allows for faster website loading speeds across the world as data cached in multiple locations around the world.

Are you an experienced developer? You'll be happy to hear that we actually made a name for ourselves for being the "developer-friendly" host. In fact, we were one of the very first hosts to offer both PHP 5. Of course, technology (and PHP versions) have changed a lot since we started back in 2003, our commitment to loading your account with all the web development tools you could want has not! You get everything from support for the best versions of PHP, MySQL, Apache, Python and more to resources like free SSH access, version control software like Git and so much more.
Unlike a dedicated hosting server that powers a single site, a shared web hosting server houses multiple sites. The upside to shared hosting? It's cheap. Shared web hosting is extremely wallet-friendly; you can host a website on a shared server for under $10 per month in most cases. Dedicated hosting, on the other hand, can cost hundreds of dollars per month.
We’ll be looking at this list several times a year, so keep an eye out for us re-opening the survey for hosts to submit themselves for inclusion. Listing is completely arbitrary, but includes criteria like: contributions to WordPress.org, size of customer base, ease of WP auto-install and auto-upgrades, avoiding GPL violations, design, tone, historical perception, using the correct logo, capitalizing WordPress correctly, not blaming us if you have a security issue, and up-to-date system software.
All of our web hosting services are backed by Namecheap’s Hosting Guarantee. This guarantee represents the highest quality you can expect from Namecheap and underlines our commitment to providing excellence in our hosting division. If, on the off-chance we fail to meet our 100% uptime SLA, we will gladly issue account credits. Read our Guarantee in full →

Feature-wise, there’s nothing missing with Flywheel, and you can expect great performance as well (more on which in a minute). The $14 / month plan allows you to host one WordPress website, and you can handle up to 5,000 visitors monthly (250GB of bandwidth). You also get 5GB of disk space and free site migration. The servers run on Google Cloud Platform.

The network infrastructure that powers our web hosting servers delivers 99.9% uptime for every calendar month, excluding scheduled maintenance. We use redundant bandwidth providers, routers and switches to provide full redundancy at all levels within our network. As a result, our network uptime is among the best around, and we’re proud of the rockin’ performance it delivers.
There are some limitations though, many of which indicate that WordPress is really just an effective option for personal sites but not for business owners. Notably, there's only email forwarding rather than full email hosting, making this no good for a business site. Monetization options and Google Analytics are only available at a hefty price, making WordPress a less attractive option if flexibility is key to your hosting needs.
Our favorite WordPress hosting provider is DreamHost, but there's plenty of room for other great alternatives. We've looked at many of the most popular hosting providers, narrowing them down to what works best for different situations such as for your business needs, a small vanity project, or somewhere in between. Regardless, there are many great WordPress hosting services out there.
For plans or packages featuring unlimited websites, domains, or email accounts, we do not enforce any official limitations. Customers are able to utilize as many of these features as they wish. That said, these are of course not infinite resources and there are inherent maximums associated with the technology powering them. For example, while email account creation is unlimited, these rely on the file storage available on the account. Therefore customers need to be operating within the Terms of Service to ensure resources are available to fully enable email functionality. Customers operating within the Terms of Service have yet to come up against technical boundaries for email, domains, or websites.
Your visitor satisfaction rate, bounce rate and most importantly your conversion rate are all directly impacted by your page load speed. Each extra millisecond of page load time can negatively impact each of these crucial metrics. There are a number of ways that you can ensure that your site loads quickly. That includes making sure that your software is up to date, using caching solutions and remove any unused plugins. However, one of the most critical factors for determining your page load speed is your host. A2 Hosting uses the best hardware, software and optimizations to ensure you get the fastest page loads speeds possible.
No list of best WordPress hosting could be complete without SiteGround playing a prominent role. The company has been making a name for themselves in the WordPress community for a while now. And not without a reason. Their hosting platform is strong when it comes to for-WordPress optimized servers, plus they offer managed WordPress hosting at price points that are unheard of (read: you won’t find a cheaper managed host of the same quality anywhere else).
We don’t limit the amount of visitor traffic a website can receive or the amount of content you can upload to your website so long as you comply with our Terms of Service. If your website demands resources that present a risk to the stability, performance, or uptime of our servers, we will notify you to take corrective action and may restrict the resources or ask you to choose a plan more suitable to your needs.

Choosing between hosting providers can be challenging if you are creating a website on a budget, or you’re just starting out online. A VPS or a dedicated server offers additional power and complete control over your own server, but these perks come with a premium price tag, running up to a hundred times the price. So if you are looking for a hassle-free solution that’s cheap to boot, then shared hosting is what you need.

That said, not all shared hosting plans are created equal. Sure, all web hosting companies let you store files on their servers, but they offer varying amounts of monthly data transfers, storage, and other features. Even how you pay (month-to-month vs. annual payments) can be radically different, too. Most shared web hosts offer multiple plans that represent their low-, medium-, and top-tier products.
Which host are you on? We’re pleased with WPEngine, but been getting 502 timeouts due to the amount of WooCommerce extensions we have. We are basically running 90 odd plugins at all times, and this causes 502 errors when we try updating the site. Add to the fact that we might soon be hitting 25k of unique visitors, we might need to look for a new host.
Every time we asked which files are infected or what type of malware is on it – “by our policy, we cannot tell you” – WHAT KIND OF POLICY IS THAT?! “We’ll generate malware.txt – but this is last time. You need to go through every single file on your server on your own and clean it up. Run your own cleanup if you don’t want to buy our service.” Their customer service reps are not nice (not all, but so far 90% of them) and keep on pushing to buy cleanup serice.

Security is a top priority for WordPress developers, from downloading and running the software itself, right through to ensuring that your website is safe from cyber attacks. In addition, security plugins are available to reinforce your website against security threats and malicious attacks. At CanSpace we have a WordPress-specific application-level firewall, which further protects your WordPress-based website from attacks.

24/7 Premier Support is available to all hosting plans and is done through phone, email, and live chat. Online tutorials and a community-based Q&A is available as well. Reviews are mostly positive when it comes to their customer support system. Their customers stated that they have quick response times and their representatives are knowledgeable when it comes to solving both easy and complex problems.
Anycast DNS - When typing in a domain name, traditional DNS works by translating that domain name into the IP address where that website can be found. The computer is connected with the web host and the web site can be viewed once this IP address is located. The DNS record is located on a DNS server found in one location. For example, if you're located in the United Kingdom, but your visitor is located in the United States, it can take some time for that DNS server and your visitor's computer to communicate with each other. This can slow down how fast a web page loads. A2 Hosting uses Anycast DNS because that resolves this issue. Instead of just one DNS location, Anycast DNS copies your DNS record on our network of global servers. This means that your DNS record is much closer to your visitors and Anycast can direct visitors to a DNS server located more closely to them. In short, Anycast DNS is another A2 Hosting solution that can help your site load even faster for your visitors.
Whether you’re in the process of a web re-design, complete re-brand, or just trying to push a new site live, you’ll inevitably run into a few blockers. Getting your website up and running the way you want it can be incredibly rewarding, but there is a lot of hard work you’ll need to do on the way to getting there. In addition to getting your website designed and built (using a custom CMS, or a common one like WordPress), you’re also going to need to decide where you want it hosted.
The cloud is less secure than a dedicated server. This is especially true in public and hybrid cloud environments, where you data resides alongside that of other companies. This can be especially complicated if data is stored outside the country — in the event of a lawful government request for access, your information could be shared without your consent, or your server taken offline if another tenant violates local use policies.
Shared hosting is generally ideal for startups, sites that don’t get enormous amounts of traffic, and those without massive budgets, as the costs are low and affordable. In addition to this, there are very few options in terms of server configuration, so you are free to concentrate on building and running your website. Setup is also taken care of for you.

As a web design, I can say that WP Engine is the best for WordPress. If your a web business with lots of traffic WP Engine is a good investment , however I find Hostgator more that acceptable for most small to mid-size website, especially if you add cloudflare or a cache plugin. Hostgator also has really good support. I can hop on a chat or call and be communicating in usually 1-2 minutes, practically zero down-time. I can name several times where a website will be down and a client calls and by the time I check the website is back up.

Sites that employ WordPress as their content management system account for about 30% of websites online right now. Simple to set up, keep secure, and use on a regular basis, it makes sense it's such a popular content management system to use. Even those only accustomed to using word processing tools can quickly get to grips with what's expected of them with WordPress.

Web hosting is effectively the process of using a server to host a website, and there are all sorts of different types of web hosting available out there on the market. Hostinger, just like most web hosts offer different packages so that their customers can pay for just the resources that they need. The more popular the website is, the more resources it’s likely to need to function effectively.

Since 1997 we've advocated that quality web hosting doesn't have to be expensive, that customers are not expendable, and that our industry leading, in-house platform powers our customers' success. Combined with the friendly energy of our Technical Support team, we believe we're the best place on the planet to host your website and grow your online presence.

The chart above focuses on the web hosts that boast the best shared hosting plans of all the services we've reviewed. Many shared web hosts offer unlimited monthly data transfers and storage, so other factors may help you decide which service is best for your business. Note, however, that it you're going to relying on unlimited anything, be sure to read the small print to make sure that there aren't any gotchas. Make sure your definition of unlimited matches the hosting service's.
On this platform, one physical server is shared by a number of users who tap into the same resources. Everyone shares the cost of storage, bandwidth and other features. Web neighbors can’t access other accounts or websites, so the system is safe and secure. Its cost-effectiveness and ease of use make shared web hosting a popular choice. Even beginners can start using it almost immediately.

When it comes to CMS options, Joomla is likely the second biggest behind WordPress, although there’s still a large gap between the two. One reason Joomla isn’t nearly as popular is because it’s not particularly user-friendly. Unless you love Joomla, I’d advise going with WordPress, which is also what I tell all our clients. You’ll get up and running faster and I think it’s also a better choice from an SEO perspective.
With shared hosting, you’re sharing a server and that server’s resources with a bunch of other websites. With a VPS, you’re still sharing some resources because that’s determined by the hardware, but the software itself is set up in such a way that one machine acts like multiple different servers, providing a different virtual server for every user.
I ve been using Bluehost since 2011 first with a basic account – time loading disaster, but I was not enough experienced user to notice that and I loved their Cpanel, chat support was friendly and helping at that time. Starting Jan 2017 a new Pro account with them I found some tech problem which they apparently don’t want to solve and don’t care if I remain their client.

Our updated cPanel is live with the new Website Builder, perfect for building your personal website within minutes. All of our servers are located behind finely tuned, and actively monitored firewalls. Our firewall logs are monitored 24/7 for any suspicious activity, and server software is upgraded nightly to ensure any potential exploits are closed immediately. We also provide our clients with a web application firewall (WAF), based on regularly updated OWASP rules. This prevents against hack attempts to software like Wordpress, Joomla, and even custom software - even when not properly patched. Just another added benefit that CanSpace makes available to its clients that most web hosting providers do not. All of our email servers are also accessible securely through SSL. This includes both our IMAP and POP servers, as well as all our included webmail clients.

You may have noticed that in addition to the Linux Hosting offered on this page, that we also offer Windows Shared Hosting. Which operating system should you choose? Please note that it doesn't matter if you have a Mac, Linux or Windows based computer. You can choose either of our Windows or Linux Hosting regardless of your computer's operating system. What you should probably pay more attention to is the type of software you want to host instead. Do you require server support for solutions like Apache, PHP or MySQL? Your best choice would likely be choosing our Linux Shared Hosting. If on the other hand you need server support for software like ASP, MSSQL and .NET, you'll want to choose our Windows Shared Hosting.
Managed WordPress Hosting is a brand new, cutting-edge product. It’s currently in public Beta, which means that we’re actively developing it, so there may still be the occasional bugs we need to work out. As such, we don’t recommend that you rely on it for mission critical websites or applications (yet!). We encourage participation for those who wish to try it and welcome any feedback you may have to make the service even better.

What GoDaddy offers: WordPress hosting solutions are typically very straightforward and easy, but GoDaddy has made the process even simpler. Besides offering automatic setup and updates, it also includes pre-built sites and a drag and drop page editor. Its quick start service means it takes minutes to set up a site, with thousands of high-quality images available to import too.
Resources are always limited, this is the basic premise of the entire field of economics and applies to shared hosting. When choosing shared hosting, check the fine print for what is within their fair use policy. It will cause problems for others if your site gets huge amounts of traffic, if your visitors download masses of content, or a script causes the server to slow down for instance. The podcast website Frogpants experienced problems because visitors were downloading and streaming big files for example.
For most people just getting started online the advantages of shared hosting will greatly outweigh the disadvantages, especially if you’re trying to get a site up and running as quickly as possible and have little tech skills. It’s also important to note that a responsible web host will let you know when your traffic hits a level that it’s time to upgrade, and will monitor and shut down any sites that pose a risk to the others on the server.

Shared hosting is Web hosting in which the service provider serves pages for multiple Web sites, each having its own Internet domain name, from a single Web server. Most Web hosting companies provide shared hosting. Although shared hosting is a less expensive way for businesses to create a Web presence, it is usually not sufficient for Web sites with high traffic. These sites need a dedicated Web server, either provided by a Web hosting service or maintained in-house.
MangoMatter's website designs are excellent. That's why I chose this website designer above lots of others I looked at. The designs are simple yet elegant in their layout. Unlike so many other sites that are cluttered and hard to navigate around. MangoMatter designs are easy to use with content very accessible. I highly recommend this service for both its conceptual sophistication and logical usability.

The aforementioned features are valuable to the web hosting experience, but none can match the importance of site uptime. If your site is down, clients or customers will be unable to find you or access your blog or your products or services. Potential new customers may miss your site altogether, and existing customers may go elsewhere out of frustration or confusion.
The money back guarantee is one of the main things that sets A2 Hosting apart from its competition. A2 Hosting provides anytime money back guarantee to try out their service risk-free. If you’re not satisfied with their hosting, you can cancel your hosting account and request a full money back within 30 days. EvenAfter the first 30 days, you’ll be eligible for a prorated refund for unused service.
And what about Otto? He’s done well for himself — he hired a Web designer to revamp the site and built several brick-and-mortar stores in major cities. He has a staff including IT pros and also ships internationally. While VPS hosting still takes care of his basic needs, the number of credit transactions processed and personal data stored means Otto needs to know exactly where this information is at all times and can verify that it’s being properly handled. In addition, staff in multiple locations need access to the site’s back-end — here, a dedicated server is the ideal solution.
Speaking as a 20 year full-time freelance developer I have to say, by far — and when I say by far, I mean BY FAR, GoDaddy’s hosting has been the biggest nightmare for my clients. I can count a dozen good sites that I’ve had to move from GoDaddy for issues ranging from outdated equipment to lack of redundancy, lost data, and simply the most incompetent customer service I’ve encountered. GoDaddy should have just stuck to the Registrar game, because their hosting program is abysmal.

As a digital agency, we get a LOT of web hosting related questions. People want to know which web host is best for their specific goals (could be a normal business site, or photographer, small blogger, etc.), or where to find a decent comparison that reviews the best web hosting providers for Canada (like this page), or some already know which host they want to go with but want to grab the best deal and find a coupon. The majority have problems identifying which web hosts are actually worth the money, provide the most bang for their buck. So to save ourselves some time answering these questions time and time again, we decided to put a good chunk of time into creating a resource that provides many of the answers people are looking for… and so this page was born!
You also need to consider how long you'll need WordPress web hosting. If it's a short-term project—say, less than a month or two—you'll typically receive a refund should you cancel your hosting within 60 days. Some companies offer 30-day money-back guarantees, while others offer 90-day money-back guarantees. Once again, it's beneficial to do your homework.

There are three basic cloud models: public, private and hybrid. Public models are those like Amazon Web Services (AWS), where individuals and companies rent a portion of Web space at a monthly rate and in many cases, this rate fluctuates based on resource use. Private clouds are just the opposite: companies purchase servers for use in their own data center (on-premises or offsite) and then control all accesses and resources. Hybrid is a marriage of the two, with some data and applications stored on private servers and less critical information stored in the public cloud.
