If you’re actually looking for super high quality managed WordPress hosting for Canada, WP Engine is what you need! They are the market leader when it comes to hosting WordPress sites, and with good reason (though are a tad expensive). They have an in-house custom built caching system to serve pages super-fast (called EverCache), and combined with their CDN, they are the fastest WordPress hosting company around!
As mentioned above, they have a speedy server in Canada, but if you need to target other countries, Cloudflare CDN is provided for free on all plans. This means your website data is stored as cache on various locations around the world ensuring fast website speeds for visitors far away from your primary data center. Enhanced solid state drives are also given ensuring faster website loading speeds compared to traditional disk drives.
Turbo Server Option - If you really want to give your site an advantage of your competitors, you'll definitely want to consider hosting your sites on our Turbo Servers. Why? They feature up to 20X faster page loads compared to competing web hosting services. Now that's really fast! Just a few of the features that make our Turbo Servers perform so well are that they use a speed enhanced, drop-in Apache alternative, have less users on each Turbo server and every Turbo user has more resources allocated to their account. Our Turbo Servers also includes our exclusive A2 Optimized tool that makes caching a breeze. You can read more about this tool below.
Buying the plan for the new server wasn’t even intuitive. I ended up getting the wrong thing and finally had to contact them. I now have two hosting plans (one is an old Linux server and the new one is c-panel). Now I’m trying to move all of my sites to the new plan. I still don’t have it done. I had issues and now everything is back to the original plan. After a few months of trying I’m tempted to just move to a new host entirely. Thanks for this detailed overview. I might just go with one of these hosts. They all look better than the one I’m currently with.
At A2 Hosting, the advantages of our shared web hosting packages are obviously speed. However, the other pros of these plans include affordability and convenience. Our shared web hosting environment means we can offer reasonably priced hosting plans because our customers are not only sharing server resources, but they are also spreading the cost of hardware, server maintenance, security updates and other factors among all customers on the server. As an A2 Hosting shared server hosting customer, you also do not have to worry about server uptime and technical support because that's our job. Our shared web hosting packages come with an abundant amount of resources like disk space, data transfer and email accounts that are perfect for your personal and small business websites. These are just a few of the reasons why we offer the best web hosting for small businesses and general users.
There are some limitations though, many of which indicate that WordPress is really just an effective option for personal sites but not for business owners. Notably, there's only email forwarding rather than full email hosting, making this no good for a business site. Monetization options and Google Analytics are only available at a hefty price, making WordPress a less attractive option if flexibility is key to your hosting needs.
Which host are you on? We’re pleased with WPEngine, but been getting 502 timeouts due to the amount of WooCommerce extensions we have. We are basically running 90 odd plugins at all times, and this causes 502 errors when we try updating the site. Add to the fact that we might soon be hitting 25k of unique visitors, we might need to look for a new host.
The first step in customizing your WordPress site is to log into your WordPress install. From there, you'll actually find an "Appearance" section within your WordPress dashboard dedicated to helping you customize your site. The easiest and most likely the method you'll find most effective is by using a pre-made WordPress theme. Just click the "Add New Theme" button to browse through a number of theme options. You can search for themes as well as use the Feature Filter. The Feature Filter is an excellent way to discover a theme that you like the most. This is where you can narrow down themes based on features, the type of layout you want and the subject of your site.
At the other end of the spectrum is dedicated hosting. In this environment, your website will run on its own dedicated server that you lease from a hosting provider like CanSpace, and will not be competing with other websites for resources. Dedicated hosting often affords you more flexibility and control over your website and server, allowing you to customize your web server and hardware.
Managed WordPress Hosting is a brand new, cutting-edge product. It’s currently in public Beta, which means that we’re actively developing it, so there may still be the occasional bugs we need to work out. As such, we don’t recommend that you rely on it for mission critical websites or applications (yet!). We encourage participation for those who wish to try it and welcome any feedback you may have to make the service even better.

SiteGround features include automatic upgrades, built-in WP caching, CDN, one-click staging and GIT version control. If you're not sure of the type of hosting your business needs, you might want to start small, with shared Web hosting. You can always graduate to a more robust, feature-rich package of, say, VPS hosting or even dedicated hosting in the future. Unfortunately, some hosts don't offer all hosting types. Consider how much you expect to grow your website, and how soon, before you commit to anything longer than a one-year plan. It's worth spending the time up front to make sure that the host you select with is able to provide the growth you envision for your site, as switching web hosting providers midstream is not a trivial undertaking.
Why? Because word of mouth only gets you so far in this internet-centric age. These days, people discover new businesses—even local business—via Bing, Google, and Yahoo, search engines that make it incredibly simple to find companies' products, operational hours, and prices. If your business doesn't appear in the search results, ideally on the first page, it'll be difficult for potential clients and customers to find you via search. And if you don't have a sharable link, your chances of building online word of mouth via social networking plummet, too. In other words, no website, no discoverability, no money. Of course, web hosting isn't just for businesses. You may want to host a personal website or blog, too. Either way, the services here have you covered.
Dedicated hosting does have some downsides. Of course, it comes at a cost; having your own server is the most expensive option available. However, if you need this type of hosting, it is likely that your website or business is generating enough income to support it. Also some providers leave you to manage the server software and configuration. At CanSpace however, everything is managed by us.
The network infrastructure that powers our web hosting servers delivers 99.9% uptime for every calendar month, excluding scheduled maintenance. We use redundant bandwidth providers, routers and switches to provide full redundancy at all levels within our network. As a result, our network uptime is among the best around, and we’re proud of the rockin’ performance it delivers.
Choosing between hosting providers can be challenging if you are creating a website on a budget, or you’re just starting out online. A VPS or a dedicated server offers additional power and complete control over your own server, but these perks come with a premium price tag, running up to a hundred times the price. So if you are looking for a hassle-free solution that’s cheap to boot, then shared hosting is what you need.
Bluehost doubled their prices and their support is crap. They used to have great support, if they had a sale and you talk to them they would the changes you requested to match their sale. Now, they got ought by EIG which own almost all hosting companies out there and they moved their support to India and they could care less about pleasing the client, they do not have the same “the customer is always right attitude”. They doubled their prices and refused to make any changes to match the $6 a month for new accounts, so I told them: Thank you, I am going to start looking for a new hosting company… and they could not care less. So I went with hawkhost and now I am paying $2.24 a month.
Tom did a great job on my website. He was willing to work within my budget and had my website finished within days from our start date. Tom was easy to communicate with and if he said he was going to do something, he did it on time, which was certainly a refreshing quality after my past experiences with other website businesses. If you aren't using this guy, you need to!
What it usually means is the provider hasn’t set resource limits, and that unlimited offer applies to reasonable situations. It’s not intended if you’re getting a million pageviews per month. The offer is basically a way to bring in customers. Just check the speed and don’t get drawn in by an ad. Unlimited bandwidth doesn’t mean much if you need to deal with slow speeds.
Our Turbo Server solution offers an additional speed boost with LiteSpeed Cache for WordPress. This powerful plugin communicates with your Turbo server and LSCache to statically cache your dynamic WordPress pages and greatly reduce your site's page load time. LSCache is built right into your server. This means overhead is greatly reduced and caching is more efficient compared to other PHP-based caching solution.
For packages supporting unmetered disk space or data transfer (bandwidth), we do not have defined limitations. These resources are "unmetered", meaning you are not billed according to the amount of disk space or bandwidth used. While of course these resources are not infinite, we believe our customers should have all the resources necessary to build an online presence and 99.95% of customers will have more than enough disk space and bandwidth to meet their needs.
We’ll be looking at this list several times a year, so keep an eye out for us re-opening the survey for hosts to submit themselves for inclusion. Listing is completely arbitrary, but includes criteria like: contributions to WordPress.org, size of customer base, ease of WP auto-install and auto-upgrades, avoiding GPL violations, design, tone, historical perception, using the correct logo, capitalizing WordPress correctly, not blaming us if you have a security issue, and up-to-date system software.
WP Engine is the market leader when it comes to managed WordPress hosting (not to be confused with shared hosting that supports WordPress, which is what we’ve been talking about so far). Managed hosts are usually more expensive, because – like the name suggests – the manage a lot more than just hosting your site. Everything in their server stack is optimized for WordPress, and WordPress alone.
I have had websites with many hosting companies over many years - pretty much since the Internet was all shiny and new. I have been hosted by both big-name companies and smaller ones. But I have never been as satisfied with a hosting company as I am with Hawk Host. In my opinion, Hawk Host is the absolute best hosting company in existence. Their package prices are extremely reasonable, and I've never had any problems with downtime. Hawk Host is a friendly, professional company that delivers first-rate service. To everyone at Hawk Host: thank you so much for being so awesome!
The most basic is web page and small-scale file hosting, where files can be uploaded via File Transfer Protocol (FTP) or a Web interface. The files are usually delivered to the Web "as is" or with minimal processing. Many Internet service providers (ISPs) offer this service free to subscribers. Individuals and organizations may also obtain Web page hosting from alternative service providers.
24/7 Premier Support is available to all hosting plans and is done through phone, email, and live chat. Online tutorials and a community-based Q&A is available as well. Reviews are mostly positive when it comes to their customer support system. Their customers stated that they have quick response times and their representatives are knowledgeable when it comes to solving both easy and complex problems.

I have used Tom from Mango Matter on numerous occasions to develop web pages both internally and for clients. I have never been disappointed with the quality of work and the functionality of the sites. The best thing about using Tom, is that he responds so quickly to any questions and is able to efficiently fix any issues that arise. Tom is a delight to work with and his web knowledge is second to none.
The service must include system administration since it is shared by many users; this is a benefit for users who do not want to deal with it, but a hindrance to power users who want more control. In general shared hosting will be inappropriate for users who require extensive software development outside what the hosting provider supports. Almost all applications intended to be on a standard web server work fine with a shared web hosting service. But on the other hand, shared hosting is cheaper than other types of hosting such as dedicated server hosting. Shared hosting usually has usage limits and hosting providers should have extensive reliability features in place. Shared hosting services typically offer basic web statistics support, email and web mail services, auto script installations, updated PHP and MySQL, basic after-sale technical support that is included with a monthly subscription. It also typically uses a web-based control panel system. Most of the large hosting companies use their own custom developed control panel. Control panels and web interfaces can cause controversy however since web hosting companies sometimes sell the right to use their control panel system to others. Attempting to recreate the functionality of a specific control panel is common, which leads to many lawsuits over patent infringement.
My real cause of finally leaving them however is their deceptive charging tactics. They’ve charged me a week in advance for a service I did not want renewed, numerous times. I’ve turned off the renewals, but did not know of the hidden switches nested under a small link: billing -> billing settings. BTW, they have a renewal section under account where they have most services renewal status, just not the big costs… To resolve the issue, they offered me 30% off at the cost of double their competitive rate. ($15.95 instead of advertised $5.95). Sorry for being a long time customer, you should pay more.
Then there's the OS question. Do you need Windows servers? Linux servers? It's best to shop around. When it comes to server operating systems, Linux is typically the default option. Still, some services offer a choice of Linux or Windows hosting. If you have specific server-side applications that require Windows, such as SQL Server or a custom application written in .NET, then you need to make sure your web host has Windows hosting. But don't let the idea of a Linux host intimidate you.
Security: Most managed WordPress hosting services come with auto-updates, automatic WordPress vulnerability fixes, and regular data backup, which give an extra layer of protection to your site. This also gives you a peace of mind since you don’t necessarily have to install and manage complex WordPress security plugins to provide bulletproof security. You should also read out the ultimate WordPress security guide for more details.
